Insights from the Community Resilience Workshop

Workshop on Community Resilience at Major CB Health Threats was organized on 4 July 2024 in Thessaloniki by School of Journalism and Mass Communications together with National Public Health Organization in Greece, Lead of Work Package on Risk and Crisis Communication (Internal & Public).

20 participants attended the workshop in person and 35 persons participated online, bringing the final number of participants, that came from different sectors and disciplines to 55.

Honorable speakers at the workshop included:

  • the Secretary-General for Public Health of the General-Secretariat for Public Health, Hellenic Republic, Ministry of Health,
  • the Director of Medical Services EKAB (National Centre for Emergency Number Care and President at European Emergency Number Association EENA) and
  • Communication Experts, professionals of fellow public health agencies of the EU JA TERROR, partners of WP7 – Risk and Crisis Communication (internal and external).

Participants engaged in fruitful discussions on identifying critical points to be incorporated into recommendations on Community Resilience at Major CB Threats for the EE/EEA countries.

Conclusions from the survey on Community Resilience will also be included in the document on recommendations. Survey is available here by 20 July 2024.

Few of the key points that emerged through the topics addressed by the speakers were:

  • The protection of critical infrastructures is crucial.
  • For the successful preparation, preparedness, response and engagement of the community against CB health threats, concerned the reaching out and training of the people of each and single community
  • Educational and academic national systems need to be involved in raising awareness of CB threats.
